I want the screen to be a massive mirror
THU 22 August 5 p.m.
On occasion of the final days of our exhibition “Steve McQueen“ we are happy to announce the presentation of a new publication, “I want the screen to be a massive mirror.“ This publication contains the texts of seven lectures delivered during the programme of events that accompanied the exhibtion. Printed in the original English or German, the lectures by T.J. Demos, Darby English, Jean Fisher, Ute Holl, Markus Klammer, Michaela Ott and Alexandra Stäheli focus on the body of works by the British video installation artist and movie director, and explore the relationship between art and cinema in McQueen’s work.
The publication also features several sequences of impressive photographs. They document the exhibition at Schaulager and convey a vivid sense of McQueen’s subtle exploration of the relationship between the projection surface and the viewer’s space.
A book launch will be held at Schaulager on Thursday, 22 August 2013 at 5 p.m.
The exhibition “Steve McQueen“ lasts till 1 September 2013.
