In the installation Pursuit, a two-sided screen, suspended in the middle of a mirrored room, is teeming with luminous, moving points of light. The image is endlessly repeated in the mirrors and the space seems to expand. For this sequence, the artist affixed small lights to his jacket and walked at night through the undergrowth of Amsterdam’s Sarphatipark. His body vanishes in the darkness, and all we see are the lights forming patterns like constellations of stars. The soundtrack — heavy breathing, footsteps and rustling in the bushes — evokes associations of escape and pursuit. A bewildering loss of orientation marks this abstract, undefined zone.
